For those affected by the recent storms, ComEd has shared the following information with SPEED School District 802.
ComEd Damage Claim Information
ComEd provides a process for customers to submit claims for certain losses that may be associated with a power interruption, power surge, or other electric service-related event. ComEd reviews each claim individually and determines eligibility based on its investigation and applicable service guidelines.
Families may wish to explore this option if they experienced:
• Food spoilage following a power outage
• Damage to appliances, electronics, or equipment
• Property damage that may be related to a qualifying electrical service interruption or fluctuation
Documentation That May Be Required
Depending on the nature of the claim, ComEd may request:
• An itemized list of spoiled food and associated costs
• Receipts or proof of purchase
• Repair estimates or invoices
• Documentation supporting that the loss was related to a power interruption, surge, or fluctuation
