SPEED’s team of Assistive Technology Specialists work collaboratively with teachers, parents and teams to develop and implement plans to meet the unique learning needs of students with disabilities in all SPEED schools and throughout our member districts. They work with IEP teams and individual teachers and students as requested.
Students who require individual devices to access their education are assessed through a special process to determine which device best fits their needs. All students enrolled in SPEED schools and programs have access to desktop computers, iPads or Chromebooks which are used for daily instruction. Most classrooms are equipped with SMARTBoards. The Assistive Technology specialists are instrumental in helping teachers and administrators integrate technology into the curriculum.
